XAMPP is a free and open source cross-platform web server package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.
Today LAMP has been a widely used web server infrastructure, but for many people , it is not easy to build a environment of Apache with full feature of MySQL, PHP and Perl, or some technical staffs want to test some application quickly, XAMPP will be the choice.
XAMPP’s name is an acronym for `X` (any of four different operating systems), `A`pache, `M`ySQL, `P`HP and `P`erl.
